Wedding Photos: Finding the Perfect Photographer

1) Set Up Meetings

Looking online at someone’s work is one thing, but when hiring a photographer to capture intimate moments of your wedding, you’ll need to be sure you can understand each other. Set up a meeting/interview with a few photographers that have caught your eye and ask them to bring along full albums of their work. Seeing an entire album of the same wedding is beneficial as you will be able to see the consistency of their work and not just a select few images.

2) Ask about Your Rights

It is common for many photographers to own the rights of all photos that they take, even the ones with you in them, meaning that you may not be able to share them online without their watershed mark. In addition to this, your photos may be used to advertise the photographer’s services. Although this is not uncommon, if you want to negotiate any terms, be sure to do so at the very beginning of your search.

3) Get Post Production Details

The amount of time it will take for you to receive proof photos back will vary on how busy your photographer is, however, you should ask how long it will take and how many images you can expect to receive. You should also ask whether the images you receive back will be the edited versions or whether this will come after you have selected the image you would like.

In addition to this, you may consider asking whether or not your photographer can add special effects to your images which can range from beauty retouching or stylised art effects, depending on the style of photography you would like.
